On the 14th and 15th of June Ignite has been to GeekOut conference in Tallinn.
This was a great two-day Java event full of geek talks, both on stage and in the corridors of Sokos Viru Hotel. Topics were interesting and speeches inspiring. Audience had quite many questions to speakers. It was also nice to see so many familiar faces among participants.
First day had only one track, so choosing topics to visit was quite easy. Key-note “Rockstar programmers” by Edward Burns was a great start of the show, telling the difference between programmers standing on the stage and the ones who enjoy the show. Matthew McCullough used quite interesting approach to talk about some of the most advanced Git features in “Graphs, Hashes, and Compression, Oh My!”. “Beer and Networking” party was a nice end of day one.
Second day introduced second track and many live coding demos. Jevgeni Kabanov was building a “build pipeline” with Jenkins and LiveRebel and Joonas Lehtinen showed some Vaadin with Scala.
Conference was held for the second time and hopefully it will become a nice annual tradition. We really miss such events here in Estonia.
Thanks to ZeroTurnaround guys for organizing such a great event!
